About
Hi, I'm Denis 👋🏾
I'm a generalist full-stack engineer based in Kenya. I like to think of myself as a "jack of many trades and master of some."
My journey into tech began while studying Mechatronic Engineering. After graduating, I became more curious about the world of software development and switched to programming in 2019. Looking back, it felt like a natural move.
Since then, I've built software across:
- Property management
- Fintech
- Human resource management
In 2024, I stepped away from formal employment and spent a year "wandering"—freelancing, experimenting, and building personal projects. I wanted the space to think more intentionally about my career, challenge myself in new ways, and explore where my curiosity could lead.
Today, I work full-time as a software engineer, but I've still kept that sense of exploration alive. I find doing personal projects as a creative outlet for me: a space to play with ideas, learn new technologies, and build things simply because I want them to exist.
This blog is where I share what I'm working on—the experiments, the lessons, and the occasional unfinished thought. In that sense, I'm still wandering through the software space, just with a little more direction.
The idea was partly inspired by the book The Pathless Path by Paul Millerd. Here's a summary of an interview he gave around the topic.
